NEW! Fiber One Nutty Clusters & Almonds Cereal Review & Giveaway!

I’m a big fan of Fiber One products. I enjoy their bars and I like the Fiber One brownies for a sweet treat I don't have to feel guilty eating. The kids (especially Jaxon) like the Fiber One Chewy bars, which we reviewed a few months ago. So I was excited to try their cereal, even though I’m not much of a cereal eater.

I love breakfast – it’s definitely my favorite meal of the day. But breakfast for me is usually anything but cereal. There’s a couple of reasons for this: I don’t like milk, and I am picky about cereal. I don’t like super sugary artificially colored cereals, but I don’t like boring flakes that lack flavor and get soggy either. I recently tried almond milk and love it. I found it to be a great milk replacement for me, but I had yet to find a cereal I really liked.

But then Fiber One sent me their new Nutty Clusters & Almonds cereal to try. I love almonds, so I was intrigued. The flakes were promising, with lots of texture. They also tasted good dry – this is a cereal that would be good to munch on straight from the box. Each 1 cup serving is 180 calories and contains 11 g of fiber! That’s almost half of your daily fiber needs. It contains both whole grain wheat and whole grain oats, so it’s very filling.

After I added almond milk, I let the cereal sit for a few minutes first, to taste the flakes ability to hold up to the milk. They were not soggy at all and retained their crunchiness. In addition to the textured flakes, the cereal has oat and nut clusters to give it extra crunch. There are also almond slices in the cereal, which is awesome!

The cereal was sweet, but not syrupy sweet. I was concerned about where the sweetness was coming from, and was pleased when I checked the ingredients list and find out that sugar, honey, molasses, corn syrup, and brown sugar syrup used instead of something artificial. There are 12 g of sugars per serving. That sounded like a lot to me, so I compared it to other cereal boxes that we had on hand and found that most of our cereals contained between 9-11 g of sugar, while one contained 19g (yikes!). I’d love to see Fiber One bring the sugar content down just a little bit.

Jaxon loves it!

I really like it, too! I love that it is filling and tastes great!

Want to try some yourself? You can print a coupon for $1.25 off of one box by clicking here. One lucky reader will win a Fiber One Nutty Clusters & Almonds gift package containing 2 boxes of cereal, spoon, and a Fiber One wooden bowl. Enter using the super easy Rafflecopter form below!

Little One Books Review & Giveaway

Little One Books is a online retailer of children's books, music, and videos. They are not your typical retailer of children's products - you won't find every book that has ever been written for a child on this site. Instead, each book, DVD, or audio CD is carefully reviewed before being chosen. As you shop the site, you'll find a detailed synopsis of why the product was selected along with what child reviewers thought of that product. It makes it so easy to choose something that your child will love. They also make age recommendations for each product on their site. As a parent, I appreciated this feature, but I also think this is a wonderful site to recommend to grandparents or other relatives who may have trouble shopping for children's books and media. Little One Books has made it easy to choose a gift that the child in your life is sure to enjoy!

We were sent the Baby Genius Favorite Sing-A-Longs video. This video contains both original songs as well as classics like Old McDonald's Farm and the Itsy Bitsy Spider. Jaxon doesn't watch much television yet, but lately he has begun liking things like the theme song to Elmo or Dora the Explorer. I thought that a video that contained nothing but music and cartoon animals would be perfect for him. The video was recommended for ages 2+, but I thought Jaxon could grow into it, if necessary.

The video starts with songs about the characters that illustrate the video. Jaxon was not interested in that part at all. However, he enjoyed several of the other songs on the video, like "No More Monkeys Jumping on the Bed" and "Old McDonald Had a Farm". I think that as he gets a little bit older, he'll be more interested. For now, we just skip ahead to his favorite songs. I really liked that the DVD also came with an audio CD containing each of the songs. It makes it easy to enjoy Jaxon's favorite songs in the car.

Currently, when you place an order of $35 or more from Little One Books, you will receive a free tote bag and free shipping!

Summer Fun with Crayola (Review & Giveaway)

My kids love to draw, create, and craft, so we are huge fans of Crayola products. We were sent a fun box full of great Crayola products perfect for providing summer fun for kids, both at home and on the go.
I really like the Color Wonder line of products from Crayola. We've used these products for several years and my kids have tried to use Color Wonder markers on walls, the couch, the seats of the van, chairs and pews at church, and themselves. Yet no matter how hard my kids try, these markers only mark on the special Color Wonder paper. This makes these products perfect for the car! For several years when we had beige carpet, these were the only markers my kids were allowed to use!
We received several Color Wonder products: a Hot Wheels themed coloring pad with markers, Color Wonder Barbie mini coloring pad and markers, Princess and the Frog Mess Free Color Wonder Activity Set, and the Color Wonder On the Go Tiny Tube.
Color Wonder On the Go Tiny Tube
The Color Wonder On the Go Tiny Tube is cleverly designed! It fits in the cup holder of your vehicle. The inside of the Tiny Tube holds mini Color Wonder markers, while the outside contains a roll of activity pages, perforated for easy tearing and backed with adhesive so they will stay in place while kids draw. It has a convenient carry handle that makes it easy to bring from the car into a restaurant or Grandma's house.

The Princess and the Frog Mess Free Activity Set has all kinds of Color Wonder fun. It includes a coloring pad, drawing pad, gel paints, paintbrush, and markers.

We also received some Crayola Dry Erase products. The Dry Erase Travel Pack has a dry erase surface, and comes with special dry erase crayons, an eraser, and a crayon sharpener. The pack contains templates that slide beneath the dry erase surface. This is a very fun product that the kids love. However, I would not recommend this for travel when it's insanely hot outside like it has been lately. Our package was delivered on a day when it was 100 degrees outside, and our crayons had melted. They were still useable. However, if the kids had left these in the van on a hot day, they could have melted on the seat or carpet.

The kids favorite product was definitely the Crayola Dry Erase Zany Play. It comes with 4 dry erase markers for drawing and coloring. It also contains boards with mazes and games like tic tac toe. We had a couple of arguments over who would get to use this one first! This is a very versatile toy, offering lots of ways to play, which makes it perfect for travel. Just take note that unlike the Color Wonder markers, the dry erase markers will write on other things as well, so make sure to supervise their use.

One very lucky reader is going to win a Crayola box full of products, just like the one we received! Enter using the Rafflecopter form below!

Fiber One Chewy Bars - Review & Giveaway!

Fiber One recently sent us a great pack of goodies to celebrate the launch of their new Fiber One Chewy product. These new chewy bars are available in two flavors: Chocolate and Strawberry PB & J.
We tried the new chewy bars out yesterday at the park, after the kids kicked their new soccer ball around for a while. We also received some sidewalk chalk and a flexible disc to encourage outdoor active play, as well as a water bottle and a tote bag to carry it all around in.

The kids each picked a Fiber One Chewy variety to try and the chocolate was definitely the favorite! The kids enjoyed the PB & J variety as well.

I liked the chocolate bar a lot. It tasted like a good chewy granola bar should, was drizzled with chocolate on top and also had a chocolate bottom (the PB & J flavor has a peanut butter flavored bottom). I have never liked the combination of peanut butter and jelly, not even when I was young. But I still tasted the PB & J bar. It tasted just like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich (which wasn't a good thing for me, but you PB & J lovers out there should enjoy it).

Jaxon enjoyed both varieties and finished one of each flavor off in about 15 minutes. It was only after he finished the bars that I realized that he had just eaten 10 grams of fiber!
His little cheeks are stuffed full :)
I like that the texture was not tough or hard. I regularly buy Fiber One bars but my only complaint about them is that sometimes I feel like I'm choking the bar down because they can be dry. These new chewy bars are not like that at all. Even though they contain 5 grams of fiber each, they are moist and yummy. They contain no high fructose corn syrup and only 7 or 8 grams of sugar (depending on the flavor you choose). These are great for kids and adults. They are a little messy when it's warm outside (especially the chocolate variety), as shown by the photo below.

Want to try some Fiber One Chewy bars for yourself? One winner will receive a Fiber One Chewy prize pack just like we received.

Natural House Products Review & Giveaway

I love a clean house. I used to buy and try all the latest cleaning products just to find what worked best. Then I learned that so many of the chemical agents used in household cleaning products were harmful, not just to touch, but even to breathe in. I also learned that many of them don't fully rinse away, leaving harmful chemicals on your counters or toilets for your kids to touch.

When I found out that I had Parkinson's, I read a lot about the causes of Parkinson's. Many researchers believe that Parkinson's is caused by environmental factors such as pesticide sprays on our food, cleaning agents in our homes, toxic substances in workplaces. Yet another reason to get rid of harmful chemicals in our lives. Since then, I have been trying to switch to products that are safer and made from natural ingredients to lessen my children's risk for health problems later in life. I was very excited to learn about Natural House Products.

Natural House Products makes natural household cleaning products that are plant based, eco-friendly, non-toxic, and biodegradable. The cleaners contain good probiotics which naturally digest odors at their source. Best of all, the cleaners continue working until your next weekly treatment. I love that you only  clean once but you get all the effects of a clean toilet, sink and trash can all week long!

So how do they work? The probiotics create a microbial level eco-system right there in your sink, trash can, or toilet. Within this tiny eco-system, enzymes are produced by the probiotics. These enzymes break down odors, waste, food scraps, and toilet paper products on a continuous basis between treatments.

The cleaners each have a nice, pleasant smell. These cleaners are so easy to use and require very little effort. Trashy comes in a spray bottle. Spray it into the bottom of your trash can. Wipe clean or let it air dry before you put a new bag in the can. Sinky & Flushy are even easier -they are little pouches that dissolve in water. Each pouch is full of the probiotic cleaning agents. For Sinky, you just drop the pouch into the sink and run a little water on it. It starts to foam up, and the foam cleans as it goes - all the way down into your pipes or garbage disposal.
For Flushy, you do basically the same - drop the pouch into the toilet, let it foam for 10 seconds, scrub with your toilet brush, and then flush. If you have a septic tank, then Flushy's probiotics work in your septic tank to keep your system healthy. Flushy is my favorite of these cleaners because I hate dirty toilets. Flushy is so easy to use and it has a nice minty smell as it foams and cleans. I don't like traditional pine scented cleaners so the minty smell is very refreshing.
I really like how easy it is to use these products! I would love to see Natural House come out with a probiotic cleaner for countertops!

Natural House products can be purchased directly from their website, or from Amazon. A 30 day supply of the product is just $4.99 on Amazon, with free shipping if you're an Amazon Prime member.

You can also stay updated on these great products by following Natural House Products on Facebook and Twitter

Want to see a cute video about how the products work?

Natural House Products wants to give one of you a chance to try the same three cleaners that I tried. You'll get to try a 30 day supply of Sinky, Trashy, and Flushy!

Upcoming Giveaways!

I've been very quiet this week because I've not been feeling well at all! Every minute I had to sit down I was holding and feeding Jaxon or helping the kids with school. I was tired and my wrist was sore for no known reason. It's been hurting for weeks and has gotten worse and I had finally decided to break down and go to the doctor next week. While normally I can blog while nursing, my wrist was so sore that it hurt to do almost anything, including typing and fastening the snaps on Jaxon's diapers. But I woke up yesterday morning with no pain! I have no idea why it went away all of a sudden like that, but I'm so so so very glad it did.

Anyway, the main reason for this post is to announce the giveaways I'm hosting! I will post several next week. I'm going to be giving away a Starbucks gift card and a Fuzzibunz cloth diaper! I'm also very excited to be hosting giveaways for Lovable Labels and Babybond! Follow me on Facebook and Twitter to stay updated on when each giveaway is posted!
